Minimal data, no tax inputs stored on our servers, and no sensitive documents in this release.
Calculators and checkers
The figures you type into calculators are processed in your browser. They are not sent to our servers and are not stored by us. Checklist completion ticks are saved only in your browser’s local storage so you can return to them; no tax figures are included.
Search
Search queries are processed on our server to return results. We keep anonymised counts of searches that return no results so we can fill content gaps. We reject and do not store queries that look like a PPSN, bank identifier or password.
Accountant enquiries
If you use the form on the Ask an accountant page we store your name, email, phone number, what the enquiry is about, your timing, any note you add, the page you came from and the date, with your consent to share them with one partner accountancy firm. The note rejects PPSNs and bank details. Enquiries are kept for 12 months after the last contact and deleted on request. A hashed form of your IP address is kept for 24 hours to limit abuse. PAYEWise receives a fixed sponsorship or referral fee from the partner firm; this does not affect any guide or calculator.
Email checklists and the contact form
If you ask for a checklist by email, we send it once to the address you give and do not store the address. The checklist contains the steps and your tick list only, never figures from a calculator. Messages sent through the contact form are forwarded to our inbox and kept only as long as needed to answer them.
Analytics
We use Plausible, a cookieless analytics service, when it is enabled. Events are aggregated by page type and event name only. No name, PPSN, expense amount, medical detail, password or bank number is ever included in an analytics event or server log.
What we never collect
- myAccount or ROS passwords or ROS certificates.
- PPSNs, bank account details or payment card details.
- Medical invoices, receipts or other supporting documents.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold, and you may object to processing. Because we hold almost nothing, most requests are satisfied by clearing your browser storage. Contact details are on the contact page.
Cookies
This release sets no tracking cookies. Any future consent banner will categorise cookies and default to off for non-essential categories.
