Tax guide / introduction
Capital Acquisitions Tax at 33% applies to gifts and inheritances above your lifetime tax-free threshold, which depends on your relationship to the person giving: Group A (child from parent) 400,000 euro, Group B (close relatives) 40,000 euro, Group C (others) 20,000 euro for benefits taken from 2 October 2024. The first 3,000 euro of gifts from any one person each year is exempt.
